Aromatherapy for Travellers

Jude Brown

Whether you are travelling for business or pleasure, staying in a 5 star hotel in Europe or camping in Ecuador, aromatherapy can provide the key to a relaxed holiday or healthy business trip. A few drops of only 8 essential oils , can solve many of the problems that usually beset travellers.

Before you travel you will need to put together an aromatherapy kit. This does not have to take up much luggage space as a small, neat box will hold everything you need to treat most of the minor physical and mental ailments you may encounter on your travels.

Your essential travel kit should contain the following:

* Eight essential oils: chamomile, eucalyptus, geranium, lavender, lemongrass, peppermint, and tea tree

* 200ml (7fl oz) of base oil (sufficient for a two-to three week trip)

* 10ml (2 teaspoons) of almond oil or vitamin E oil to be used sparingly on the brow and under the eye to nourish this delicate area

* Three empty plastic bottles with ray attachments

* One vapour ring

* One pack of chamomile teabags

* Rosewater (if you have extremely dry or sensitive skin)

* Gauze

* A flannel or washcloth.

A sample of the ailments that you will be able to use your kit for include:

- JETLAG

- HEADACHES

- SUNBURN
